Canadian Gold Maple Leaf Bullion Coin
Canadian Gold Maple Leaf
The Canadian Maple Leaf is the official gold coin of Canada, and is one of the most popular gold coins in the world. This beautiful 24-karat gold coin has been produced by the Royal Canadian Mint since 1979, and is the culmination of the efforts of Walter Ott, the mint’s chief engraver at the time. Ott wanted to create an alternative to the popular South African Krugerrand. To this day, it is one of the purest gold coins to buy on the market, at 0.9999 fine, containing only pure gold.
Design & Specifications
The design of the coin comes from Arnold Machin and has been left unchanged since its inception. The front side, or obverse depicts the profile image of Queen Elizabeth II, reflecting the different stages of maturity over time. The reverse, or back of the coin features the country’s national symbol, the Maple Leaf. The intricately detailed design creates an almost proof-like quality.
The Canadian Maple Leaf gold coin is minted in multiple sizes, including the 1/20oz, 1/10oz, 1/4oz, 1/2oz, and 1oz.
